Cape Cod

April 18 thru April 26

What a nice visit we have had with our friend Pat. Today, 4-26 we left the best campsite ever! We headed down to Scusset Beach State Park to camp until Monday. I can’t imagine why more people are not here - after all it’s about 50 degrees and heading down to the upper 30’s! What were we thinking! Anyway we are cozy with satellite tv for our ballgames and electric heat. We did have a spot of rain earlier today but it didn’t stop us from taking a short bike ride along the Cape Cod Canal, and I mean short! The wind is blowing about 15-20 mph so biking in one direction is a breeze (no pun intended) but coming back isn’t so much fun! Fortunately we already were aware of this so we just puttered around this day. Tomorrow we are heading to Provincetown (tip of the Cape) to take the Jeep out on the sand dunes. There are only a few places that you can ride the dunes in Massachusetts if you are not a resident and this is one of them. We will actually be in a National Park, Cape Cod National Seashore and we’ll bring our lunch and have a picnic. I am posting a couple of photos of the baby swans that were born while we were staying at Pat’s house. She has a lovely pond across the street and much to our delight the two swans produced 7 cute little swans and posed for us.

Provincetown MA here we come! Les has been dying to drive the Jeep on the dunes here in Mass. So we took off this morning after we packed a lunch and some beach chairs and headed to the Cape Cod National Seashore at Race Point. One quick stop at the "Days Cottages", specificallly Lilac brought back memories for Les as this was the cottage that the family rented each year for many years.  We really enjoyed our time on the beach but it was terribly windy so we didn’t get out of the Jeep, picnic in the car! We did see some seals frolicking but they are very difficult to catch on camera. I am posting a photo but it’s not very good however you get the idea!

Massachusetts

We arrived in Massachuetts Wednesday to some beautiful weather, sunny and warm.  Spending time with our friend Pat and helping out with some "Spring Cleaning"...well okay Les is doing the work, but I am being supportive, pouring the wine.  Had a wonderful time visiting with Aunt Louise and Cousin David who had us over for lunch.  Very relaxing and just a lot of chit chat.  Boots and Socks were the recipients of a soft baby blanket from Aunt Louise because her kitty Beatrix apparently didn't like the pattern (LOL). We will head out to Scussett Beach (Sagamore, MA) to camp at the State Park located right on the Cape Cod Canal on Thursday.  Then we'll probably return to Pat's since we have found it's the best campsite around!  We plan to do some sightseeing while we are here, visiting historical places in Boston that we did not visit while we lived here - shame on us!  Here's a shot of the gang at Pat's and Boots relaxing on his new blanket.

Rockingham NC NASCAR Truck Race!

We arrive in the late morning at our camping spot trackside at Rockingham, NC.  This is the first NASCAR race at this track in 8 years and the Trucks have returned.  We camped overlooking the track in Thunder Alley and boy was it loud.  The cats actually went under the quilt in the bedroom and stayed there until we dragged them out at the end of the day after the noise abated!  We had a blast!  We were about 50-75 feet from the track between Turn 2 and Turn 3.  The weather was fantastic and the folks at the "Alley" were terrific, very nice and friendly.  We stayed until Monday morning about 6:00 when we headed out to Virginia.  Here's some photos of our view, the track and Victory Lane!

South Carolina Visit

Wow...we couldn't believe how grown the grands have become. We haven't been able to see them for quite a while so this visit was an eyeopener as to how quickly they do grow. Trinity is in GATE, Triton is into Soccer and soon baseball, Ty is in pre-kindergarten and Keegan is a Wii Bowling Champ! We had a terrific visit with them and I even had my hair trimmed by the professional Cheryl! I am posting a couple of photos of everyone so that you can see how much they have grown. Two days didn't seem like enough to give out the proper amount of hugs but we will be back in August for a longer time. Sorry the photos are so large, haven't quite figured out how to do the blog on the iPad so that the photos are normal, but I will do it before next post!

April 20, 2012 Here We Go!

We may have finally finished jamming everything in the MotorHome and Les went to the store to turn his coins into cash! Apparently he thinks we may literally need every last penny we have just to put gas in...or at least he is fearful that I'll cut his allowance off! We should be leaving tomorrow morning bright and early and if we feel so inclined we'll make the first stop Charleston SC to visit with Owain. Ciao for now!
